Eight and a half inches square and an inch and a half thick, the Ruibytree is roughly the size of a hardback novel, and it holds 320 prints. That works out to four pockets on each of 80 pages, with the pages turning like a book rather than fanning out like a binder.
That balance is why it tops this list. It carries a third more than the 128-pocket albums here without resorting to a dozen pockets on a thin sheet, so nothing feels crammed. We especially like that the pockets are inset from the page edge, which leaves room for a date or a sticker beside each photo, and that the strap still reaches around the cover once every slot is full. Prints load from the side too, so flipping through on a sofa does not send anything sliding out.
The caveats are small. At 8.5 inches wide it reads smaller in person than the photo count suggests, so check the shelf before you commit. The pocket film also rewards dry hands and a little patience, especially on the first few pages while the sleeves are stiff.
What we kept coming back to is how clearly the prints read through the sleeves. You can hand the closed book to someone, open it anywhere, and they see the photo without you easing it out of the pocket. The pink is a proper bubblegum pink rather than a dusty rose, and the cover takes stickers and marker without looking scuffed, which matters if this is going to a teenager.
Pros
- 320 pockets in a book-sized album
- Side-loading pockets keep prints from sliding out
- Cover and strap still close when full
- Margin around each pocket for dates and stickers
Cons
- Reads smaller in person than the pocket count implies
We recommend it to anyone who wants one book to hold a year or two of instant prints: 320 side-loading pockets, a soft cover, and pages that lie flat on a shelf.
