Six inches is the whole idea here. The VIVO MOUNT-VP01W holds a projector roughly half a foot below the ceiling, close enough that the hardware reads as part of the room rather than a bracket bolted to it. In a basement theater with an eight-foot ceiling, that low profile is the difference between a projector that disappears overhead and one that hangs in your sightline every time you sit down. It carries 30 pounds and spans mounting holes from 5.25 to 12.5 inches, so it covers most full-size home projectors — and with the extension arms removed, the 1.5-inch square plate takes a mini projector too.
What puts it at the top of this group is how well it handles the boring part. The steel is powder-coated, the arms crank down tight, and installation is the step this design gets right more reliably than the others we compared: quick-release hooks let you hang the projector, tighten the bolts, and lift it off again when you need to change a cable. Given a standard ceiling and a projector that fits the span, this is the one we reach for, and the three-year warranty makes the low price easier to trust.
Aiming is hand-tightening rather than gearing — ±15° tilt, ±15° swivel, and 360° rotation, which is plenty square-on and not much if the projector has to sit well off to one side. The joint is the part to watch: knock the projector and it can shift a few degrees until the bolts are re-tightened. Cinch the adjustment screws in sequence, check alignment again after the first week, and it holds.
Two checks before you order. Measure the hole pattern on the back of your projector, because VIVO lists several Epson models as incompatible and no arm kit covers every chassis. And look at what's above you: this mount wants a flat surface and a stud or structural anchor, so a vaulted ceiling or a hollow drywall span needs a different plan entirely. Both pass, and you have a tidy ceiling install for less than most brackets here.
Pros
- Sits just 6 inches off the ceiling
- 30 lb capacity covers most home projectors
- Arms come off for mini projectors
- Quick-release hooks simplify hanging and cabling
Cons
- No height extension
- Hole span stops at 12.5 inches
Buy this one for a normal flat ceiling and a projector under 30 pounds; it hangs low, locks down hard, and asks for nothing else.
